چکیده

Let G be a simple undirected graph with non-negative edge weights. In this paper we consider the following combinatorial optimization problem : Find, in G, a minimum weight spanning tree having diameter at most D. This problem is trivial for D :S 3 and NP-complete for D :: 4. In this paper we develop and implement a number of Branch and Bound algorithms for this problem. Computational results, based on simulated problems, are discussed.

A Metaheuristic Algorithm for the Minimum Routing Cost Spanning Tree Problem

The routing cost of a spanning tree in a weighted and connected graph is defined as the total length of paths between all pairs of vertices. The objective of the minimum routing cost spanning tree problem is to find a spanning tree such that its routing cost is minimum. This is an NP-Hard problem that we present a GRASP with path-relinking metaheuristic algorithm for it. GRASP is a multi-start ...

Minimum Restricted Diameter Spanning Trees

Let G = (V,E) be a requirements graph. Let d = (dij)i,j=1 be a length metric. For a tree T denote by dT (i, j) the distance between i and j in T (the length according to d of the unique i − j path in T ). The restricted diameter of T , DT , is the maximum distance in T between pair of vertices with requirement between them. The minimum restricted diameter spanning tree problem is to find a span...

Low-Light Trees, and Tight Lower Bounds for Euclidean Spanners

We show that for every n-point metric space M and positive integer k, there exists a spanning tree T with unweighted diameter O(k) and weight w(T ) = O(k · n) · w(MST (M)), and a spanning tree T ′ with weight w(T ′) = O(k) · w(MST (M)) and unweighted diameter O(k · n). These trees also achieve an optimal maximum degree. Furthermore, we demonstrate that these trees can be constructed efficiently...

Minimum weight spanning trees with bounded diameter

Let G be a simple graph with non-negative edge weights. Determining a minimum weight spanning tree is a fundamental problem that arises in network design and as a subproblem in many combinatorial optimization problems such as vehicle routing. In some applications, it is necessary to restrict the diameter of the spanning tree and thus one is interested in the problem : Find, in a given weighted ...
